Dear Brothers and Sisters in Carmel,
Our Holy Mother Church, in giving us the dedication for July to the Precious Blood of Jesus, gives us the opportunity to reflect on Christ’s Ultimate sacrifice on the Cross, the value of redemption and His everlasting presence in the Eucharist.
This, coupled with July being firmly anchored for us Carmelites, with Our Blessed Lady of Mount Carmel and the Solemnity celebrated by all Carmelites.
This “dual path” coming as it does it the middle of the year, gives us a very worthwhile time for:
REFLECTION – REVIEW – RENEWAL and RESOLUTION!
Reflecting on the great gift of our Redemption and of the Eucharist. Taking the opportunities whenever we can for Adoration.
Reviewing how we are living daily our Carmelite life – Our Promises and the 6 “M’s”, especially evaluating our commitment to Mental Prayer (our Desert Space) and the Liturgy of the Hours. Ensuring we give quality time to study and to Formation. This year we have our special study with St John of the Cross.
Renewing our Resolve to build and improve, and thanking God for calling us to Carmel.
Bishop Michael will celebrate Mass for the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in the Carmelite Monastery Chapel on Sunday 19th July.
