April: Dedicated to the Blessed Sacramanet

OCDS Shield

By Barbara Hempseed OCDS,
Christchurch President

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Carmel,

We approach the Easter season with joy and thanksgiving for all the graces and opportunities of Lent. Indeed, we shall celebrate Easter Sunday on our meeting day, 5th April. We are very grateful to Fr Michael-Thérese, CSJ for being available to talk to us at our meeting.

PLEASE NOTE: OUR APRIL MEETING ON EASTER SUNDAY, 5TH APRIL, WILL BE AT NAZARETH RESIDENTS’ COMMUNITY CENTRE. BEGINNING AT 1PM. (NO FORMATION GROUPS)

The Community Centre is easy to find. Coming in the Brougham St gates at Nazareth House, go past the main house and Chapel, continue straight to the end through the villas, and the Community centre is easily seen.

I reflect with much gratitude on our recent day of Recollection, held at Carmel on 15th March. The input from Sr Lauren, OCD and Fr Kevin Mowbray, SM was invaluable and it was especially pleasing seeing our Community “in action”. Each one making an important contribution to how a community works, from kitchen duties to leading prayer, and just being part of a special day of grace. Peace of Christ Community in Christchurch is in good health!

We remembered with love and in prayer those who could not be with us due to ill health or other circumstances.

As you know, I attended the National Council meeting in Wellington on 27th February. It was a positive and fruitful meeting, which you will have read about in the minutes from our March meeting. As your National Convener/President, I shall strive to serve our three N.Z. Communities as best I can, and would be most grateful for your prayers.

May God grant you all, and your families, those you care for and those you love, with many blessings this Easter Season and beyond.

In Prayer and with Love,

Barbara Hempseed, OCDS
